Building for Our Future
On June 11, 2024, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center broke ground on the construction of the first phase of its new $120 million patient bed tower on the hospital’s campus. The project will take approximately 18 months to complete, with the opening slated for December 2025.
The five-story tower will increase the hospital’s capacity by adding 60 patient beds (30 for intensive care patients and 30 for progressive care patients) and will facilitate emergency room patient flow. It will allow for the expansion of key ancillary departments and will accommodate growth in inpatient medical/surgical, complex cardiology and higher acuity neurological services – all important to expanding access to high-quality care in this rapidly growing community.
The tower will include shell space for an additional 60 patient beds as the hospital continues to grow and add services.
“The significant population growth we’ve experienced since 2016 and the projected growth in our community during the next several years are driving the need for this expansion. By expanding our capacity, we can continue to provide the high-quality care to meet the medical needs of our community and surrounding areas."
Andy Guz, CEO of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center
